Friday 4 June 2010 – 7 DAYS TO THE WORLD CUP

Things appeared to be going swimmingly today as all signs point towards the World Cup now just being one short week away. This is to be my summer vacation.

Then tragedy. Apparently. In their friendly with Japan last night it would appear that Didier Drogba has broken his arm as the Ivory Coast score a 2-0 win.

Elsewhere another shock occurs as France lose 1-0 to China. This can only serve to lap more pressure onto manager Raymond Domenech who it would appear has long lost the dressing room.

Of interest for England their group opponents Slovenia score a 3-1 victory over fellow qualifiers New Zealand (Group F) with all the goals coming in the first half and Novakovic scoring a brace in the process.

Completing today’s results is a 0-0 draw between non-qualifiers Luxembourg and the Faroe Islands. Bless.

On the tube home tonight I spot a man in a Marseille shirt perving on a girl in our carriage. This is unsporting behaviour of Thierry Henry proportions. Bloody French.
